June Fishing Reports

Both Captain Josh and Captain Zack have been running 3/4 days with nice catches of mahi and king mackerel from the Horseshoe and tower area.  The fish are being caught on live bait, most bait has been jigged minnows as the pogys have been scarce this year.  On the 1/2 day trips they have been catching plenty of Spanish Mackerel from Lockwood Folly Inlet, Ocean Crest Pier, Yaupon Reef and the Hot Hole, the shark bite has been pretty good as well with some sharks going over 100 lbs.  Capt Zack even caught a King Mackerel about 20 lbs. while shark fishing on monday.

You can tell summer has started!!  We have been real busy this week Capt. Zack has ran 2 Flounder gigging trips this week, even though the high tides at night has made it difficult they managed 10 keepers one night and 12 the other night.  We have also had a couple 1/2 day backwater trips and the flounder and drum continue to bite.  On the offshore side we had a 3/4 day with a good catch of kings and mahi and a full day bottom fishing trip with a nice catch of Scamps, Gags, American Reds, Jumbo Black Sea Bass, Triggers, Jacks, and a few others.

3/4 Day

// June 7th, 2010 // No Comments » // Fishing

Had a group from Riedsville, NC on a 3/4 day charter.  The weather wasn’t as nice as they had predicted, but we still went fishing.  The fish weren’t biting as good as they have been over the last couple of weeks, I guess with all the rain and wind we have been having has shut them down a little.  The charter ended up catching some nice black tip sharks along with some big amber jacks and sea bass.  We have a 3/4 day for tomorrow and a few flounder gigging and backwater trips later this week.  So Check back to get updated fishing reports.

Catching up on Fishing Reports

// June 3rd, 2010 // No Comments » // Fishing

Its been a little while since we reported, we were extremely busy over the Memorial Day Weekend Holiday.  We ran trips Fri, Sat., Sun., Mon.,  The offshore trips produced good catches of Gag and Scamp Grouper with all of the big Amber Jack you can stand.  The Mahi bite continues to improve off shore, but the king mackerel that were biting so good on the beach have disappeared this week, I guess because of all the rain we have been having.  Summer is in full swing and we are booking fast so give us a call to book your charter today.

// May 25th, 2010 // No Comments » // Fishing

Had a group from Columbia, SC on Friday for a Gulf Stream / Full Day Trip.  We started just inside the Steeples a couple of miles on a temp break.  We trolled to the Steeples to the Black Jack and only caught 1 Mahi and pulled the hooks on another.  About lunch time we decided to save the rest of the day and run inshore and do a little bottom fishing.  Well I’m glad we did!!!  Everything was biting Jumbo Sea Bass, B-Liners, Trigger Fish, Grunts, American Red Snapper, Gags, Red Grouper, you name it they about caught it.  Also had a Lemon shark under that would push the 400 lb mark and also had a few jacks and some nice Black Tip Sharks.  Even though the fish didn’t bite to good in the Stream we were still able to have a great day.  They should be eating fish for a WHILE!!!!

1/2 Day King Mackerel Charter

// May 23rd, 2010 // No Comments » // Fishing

Had two gentleman from Ohio go with us on Thursday for a 1/2 day charter, Live bait fishing for King Mackerel.  We caught bait at Ocean Crest Pier and went out about 8 miles where the King Mackerel have been biting for the last couple of days.  We didn’t get our second line in the water and we had our first fish of the day on.  Limited out on King Mackerel by 10:00 a.m. so we decided to come back into the beach and Spanish fish for a while.  The Spanish Mackerel bite was also pretty good catching several keepers and several more throw backs along with some nice Blues.  We also caught several nice sharks while live bait fishing.   The King Mackerel were in the 10-18 lb range and were caught on live pogies.  The fishing is starting to pick up so call to book your charter today.  910-658-8807.
